Finding a shared Java Web Host

June 27, 2007

It is difficult to find a Shared Java Web Host with support for all the technologies like  Hibernate, Spirng & Roller. AJAX support should be easy to find. The following are the steps I plan to proceed with

  1. Register a domain name for the site at goDaddy.com or Register.com(One for personal site & one for Start-up).
  2. Find a Shared Web Host. The following are some I am planning to try
    1. rimuhosting.com
    2. javawebhosting.com
    3. my….something…I provided some coding solution for this site little while back..have to dig throught my mail
  3. Go for a 1 month plan so that I can test the support for Java frameworks as explained in the following steps.
  4. The try implementing a simple AJAX Dojo basic app on these sites to test. This will be back test to test the support for AJAX.
  5. Then try the support for Hibernate(JPA), Spring & Roller.

Even though I said my start-up I don’t haven’t started any company yet. But my goal in the near future is to start a online start-up. Some of the ideas(nothing new) I have in mind are

  1. Online ECom site
  2. Blog site like WordPress.com but more in the lines of JRoller technologies which uses Java technologies like Hibernate, Spring, AJAX & Roller framework
  3. A online site that attracts lot of traffic but get’s it’s revenue from Advertisements(using something like AdSense)

The following link is a wonderful one which gives a estimate, effort & target for a Internet based start-up company. Break-Even Point for Ad-funded Internet Site. And there are lot of good post on raising money for the Start-ups in this sub-forum of Startupping.com
